March 4th: Great Lakes Environmental Law Symposium
12-5pm with networking reception to follow at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, 565 W. Adams Street, Chicago, IL 60661-3691

IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and the Chicago Park District will co-host the Great Lakes Environmental Law Symposium, bringing together diverse experts on Great Lakes law and policy from Chicago and around the region. Panelists will include environmental specialists from business and industry, professors of law, news media, state and federal regulators, and non-profit conservation organizations. Moderated discussions will address hot-button topics facing the Chicago Area Waterway System, such as the likely outcome of the ongoing Asian carp litigation, potential changes to disinfection requirements for the Chicago River, and whether officials should pursue hydrologic separation of the Great Lakes and Mississippi River watersheds.

Our March meeting will feature John Quail, Director of Watershed Planning at Friends of the Chicago River, and Dave Scriven-Young, attorney at Peckar & Abramson, P.C.  The topic will be environmental issues in land development.

April 16th: Friends of the Park Earth Day Event
9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Site to be Determined

The Chicago Bar Association YLS Environmental Law Committee will be participating in Friends of the Parks' Earth Day Clean-Up. We will be volunteering at one of the city's parks or preserves and want you to join the effort! Friends of the Parks will provide equipment for the clean-up, but you should wear sturdy shoes, gloves, and weather appropriate gear. There will also be an informal gathering at a local bar near the park afterwards. Please R.S.V.P. to Joey Barnett at joey.barnett@yahoo.com by March 1st. Another notice will be sent soon thereafter with the location of the park.

May 14th-15th: Chicago Green Festival
McCormick Place

Spring thaw in Chicago is celebrated in earnest with the return of Green Festival to McCormick Place.
